India’s Ayush and herbal products sector posted a 5.91% increase in exports during the first eleven months of the financial year 2024-25, though February 2025 saw a slight dip compared to the previous year.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, exports from April 2024 to February 2025 reached $621.58 million, up from $586.87 million during the same period in the previous year. In Rupee terms, the sector recorded a 7.96% growth, touching Rs. 5,244 crore compared to Rs. 4,858 crore in the previous corresponding period.

Export volumes rose sharply by 22%, from 94,744 metric tonnes (MT) to 1,15,468 MT year-on-year.
However, February 2025 alone registered a 6.4% decline in exports to $55.87 million, from $59.69 million a year earlier. In Indian currency, the fall was relatively moderate at 1.78%, with earnings of Rs. 486.41 crore, against Rs. 495.25 crore in February 2024.

Earlier data revealed a nearly 10% growth in exports during the first nine months (April–December 2024) of FY25.

In the full financial year 2023-24, exports climbed 3.6% to $651.17 million, compared to $628.54 million the year before. Fiscal 2022-23 had witnessed a lower growth of 2.68%.

Historically, the sector achieved stronger growth during pandemic years:
•    FY21: +26.12% to $539.88 million
•    FY22: +13.38% to $612.12 million

The Ministry of Ayush established the Ayush Export Promotion Council (Ayushexcil) in April 2022 during the Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Ayushexcil aims to strengthen India’s global footprint in traditional medicine by promoting exports of Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Unani products and services. It also addresses export-related challenges, supporting the government’s mission to boost international trade in the Ayush sector.
